According to a recent report in The Sun, Sunderland are considering sacking centre-back Papy Djilobodji as he eventually returned 72 days after he was supposed to report back for pre-season training.
The 29-year-old spent last season on loan with French Ligue 1 side Dijon, but he then turned down the chance to make the deal permanent during the summer and also rejected moves to Trabzonspor, Bordeaux and Hannover according to The Sun.
Leeds have begun the season brilliantly under new boss Marcelo Bielsa and currently sit at the top of the Championship. However, the Elland Road outfit have suffered from a slight lack of recognised centre-backs so far, meaning that full-backs Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling have both had to fill in.
Sunderland paid Chelsea £8m for Djilobodji just two seasons ago but it seems clear from our poll that Leeds fans wouldn’t even want him on a free transfer after his conduct this summer. In fact, 72% of Whites fans that responded said that the club would be wrong to sign the Senegal international. Check out the full results below.
