Manchester United have reportedly appointed former Chelsea executive Christopher Vivell as their new director of recruitment on a full-time basis.

The former RB Leipzig executive joined United in an interim spell last summer and now The Athletic report the German has signed a 'multi-year contract' to stay in his recruitment role.

The report adds that this new agreement will see Vivell, 38, carry on with a reduced salary – at a time when United are planning on making hundreds of staff redundant as part of a cost-cutting initiative.
