According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United want to sign Mason Holgate and Lewis Gibson from Everton during the January transfer window.
The report claims that the Magpies have been scouting Holgate throughout the campaign, with the club now ready to make a formal approach when the winter window opens for business at the start of next month.

But not too many of the Newcastle fans would welcome Holgate, who was widely praised by the Everton supporters for his performance at the base of midfield against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Gibson, meanwhile, left Newcastle to join Everton in the summer of 2017, which has left some of the club’s supporters slightly confused, with one fan asking whether there was a buy-back clause in the deal that took him to St James’ Park.

There was not too much positively from the Newcastle fans in general when it came to either player arriving at St James’ Park, but one supporter did claim that Holgate would be a brilliant signing for the club.
