Rashford has been linked with the Ligue 1 champions for some time and was even seen as a top candidate to replace Kylian Mbappe after the forward's free transfer to Real Madrid last summer. However, PSG had been working on his arrival even before then, even getting the green light from the England international almost three years ago.

Rashford's agent and PSG had at least three meetings as the Parc des Princes side considered options to replace Neymar in 2022, reports. At the time, former Brazil star Leonardo was the club's sporting director but during the talks it was announced he would be leaving the club and was soon replaced by Luis Campos. However, it was agent Pini Zahavi who got involved and the French outlet explains the deal broke down shortly afterwards.

Rashford is currently thriving on loan at Aston Villa, turning around his fortunes in the wake of a miserable period with United. He will come up against his former suitors on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. It could turn out to be an audition of sorts for the 27-year-old as the report adds that PSG and Rashford remain in contact with a summer transfer a possibility as coach Luis Enrique prepares to sign a new attacker.
