Former Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford has revealed that he was made to clean toilets while playing for Nottingham Forest’s academy.
The 23-year-old opened up about his career in an interview with Daily Mail and he did not hold back when criticising Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
Bamford spent half of the season on loan at Turf Moor before joining Middlesbrough in January on a permanent transfer from Chelsea.
The forward made just six Premier League appearances, all from off the bench, during his time with the Clarets, and he has revealed that Dyche accused him of never having to work for anything in his life.
Unlike most footballers, Bamford went to private school and could have gone to Harvard University in the United States, but he turned down a scholarship in order to focus on his sporting career.

The forward has now decided to hit back at his critics, one of whom is Dyche. He told the Daily Mail:
“There were a few comments at Burnley. Dyche said that because I had come through at Chelsea – and because of the way I had been brought up – I had never had to work for anything.
“My background is irrelevant and I didn’t even come through at Chelsea. I started at Nottingham Forest cleaning toilets and scrubbing the shower floors.”
Bamford spent five years at Chelsea, but did not make a single Premier League appearance, and was instead farmed out on loan to MK Dons, Derby County, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley.
Boro is where he had the most joy, scoring 17 Championship goals, and that is now where he resides on a permanent basis.
So far, he has made two substitute appearances in the top flight.
