Rangers chairman Dave King is hitting the headlines once again after he made bold claims to The Daily Record that his side only need to win one league title to put Celtic in serious trouble.
King held a media briefing yesterday, telling reporters that he expects the club to raise £6m from a share issue.
It’s all part of his plan to help the Ibrox side win major silverware, but his latest comments have been met with ridicule from Celtic supporters.
As quoted by The Daily Record, King said:
We only need one league. We don’t need two or three. We need one. Once we take one away, it’s a pack of cards. Celtic’s costs structure is more like we were 10 years ago. We needed Champions League football and if we went into the Europa League we were in trouble because the cost structure was so high. Take that away for one season and it will change the numbers in the Celtic side very, very quickly.
Hoops fans are having none of it though, believing he doesn’t understand how the club operate nor believing that the Light Blues are close to beating them in a Scottish Premiership title race.
Celtic reported a £6.9m profit in their last full year financial results.
Are his comments wide of the mark?
