Ruben Amorim may have found a new Manchester United wonderkid after calling up a 16-year-old to his first training session with the first-team.

According to the Evening Standard, teenage talent Godwill Kukonki took part in Amorim's first session as United's head coach on Monday. This was reportedly the first time the 6ft 5in defender has trained with the Red Devils' elite squad – with many tipping the youngster to have a bright future.

Amorim swapped Sporting CP for United earlier this month and has been tasked with clearing up the mess that former manager Erik ten Hag left behind. The 39-year-old has a huge job on his hands but the fact that midfielder Kobbie Mainoo took part in the training session is a good sign after weeks out with a hamstring injury.

Amorim, who signed a deal to stay at Old Trafford until 2027, took the training session with the likes of first-team players Casemiro and Marcus Rashford. The Portuguese has also had his visa application approved, along with the majority of his backroom staff.
