Manchester City star Phil Foden's cousin, Codie Owen, had a narrow escape from a terrifying fire after her house went up in flames.

According to , Owen managed to rescue her three children from the house after a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning. The family were then taken to hospital, while fire crews spent two hours putting out the blaze in Stockport. It's thought the fire was caused by a faulty bathroom extractor fan.

Foden enjoys a close relationship with his cousin and is said to have been shocked by the news. A source told : "Phil was really upset when he heard what had happened. He is really really close to Codie. They are best pals and spent loads of time together as children. He regards her as a sister and dotes on her children. He’s now helping her find alternative accommodation as she can’t return to the house for a while due to the smoke damage.”
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 1.20am on Friday 2 May, three fire engines attended a house fire in Edgeley, Stockport. The fire was on the first floor, and crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan to tackle it. One adult and three children were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Crews were in attendance for two hours.”
